Floor timber

The lowest frame element timber which crosses the keel, and is usually heavily fastened to the keelson or keel. The timbers rising above the floor timbers are referred to as futtocks. The top futtock may be given a number, as in 'third futtock', or designated as the top timber, or head timber.
